THE REST OF MY RADIO SHOW COLLECTION
By the time Phil hit the road for his first ever solo tour in July of 1982, he had two hugely successful solo efforts under his belt and a fan base eager to see and hear his music live. As a result, the HELLO, I MUST BE GOING TOUR produced the largest collection of pre-FM radio broadcasts of any Phil or Genesis tour.
Ironically, almost every single radio show was sourced from two distinct performances: the concert at Perkins Palace in Pasadena California on 19 December 1982, and the final show of the tour at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC on 20 February 1983. Again, those two concerts provided the material which make up the bulk of the below listed radio broadcasts. As you will see, the King Biscuit Flour Hour and Westwood One really milked these performances by recycling and repackaging the music for multiple releases. Every now and then I find yet another version of one of these concerts on eBay or Discogs, and when I do, I add them here.
Here is a complete listing of all known radio broadcast shows recorded during this tour:
Supergroups In Concert:
ABC Rock Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast –
Week of 16 April 1983
pre-FM Triple Vinyl LP Set
They say you never forget your first, and this show captured Phil live in all his glory on his first solo outing. This is the earliest known radio show from Phil’s first solo tour, and while that is the case, this set was one of the last that I picked up for my collection. The performance was recorded at the same venue in conjunction with video that was captured and edited down for release on VHS and Laserdisc, however, no DVD or Blu-ray release has ever materialized. (Scans of the VHS cover, Laserdisc cover and Laserdisc label from my personal collection appear in the Gallery to the right.)
Contains original DJ introductions by Pat St. John, original commercial blocks, and a version of Phil’s lengthy band introductions which – except for the below listed Warner Theater show Captured Live! #CL-783 – does not appear on future recordings from this tour. Blistering versions of I Don’t Care Anymore, The West Side, Hand In Hand and In The Air Tonight highlight this show in addition to the rarely played Don’t Let Him Steal Your Heart Away.
Nice rare set to have, one which captures a show that was ultimately far less reproduced than the following show from The Warner Theatre later in this same tour. As was usually the case, this recording does not contain the complete performance from that night.
For the remainder of this page, any recording which did not capture the complete performance for a given night will be listed with “Incomplete capture” in the narrative. From my personal collection.
Complete track listing can be found here:
Captured Live! #CL-783:
RKO Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at The Warner Theatre, Washington, D.C. – 20 February 1983
Original Broadcast –
Week of 27 June 1983
pre-FM Triple Vinyl LP Set (Side F is blank)
Yellow Label / Cue Sheet Version
Recorded on the final night of the tour, this vinyl set is the earliest incarnation of this particular radio show available on LP. It is an extremely rare and hard to find set, the value of which keeps increasing. The crowd sound on this one is a bit “muffled” compared to other versions of this concert, which I list below, but it is still an amazing set to own. Contains original DJ introductions by Perry Stone, however, there are no commercial blocks on this set which is unlike future pre-FM vinyl releases. Interestingly, this show also contains a recording of Phil’s lengthy band introductions, which doesn’t ever appear on any future recordings of the show. In addition this set’s running order is far closer to the actual setlist than any future releases of this show. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.
Complete track listing can be found here:
King Biscuit Flower Hour Show #83-481:
ABC Rock Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast –
Week of 24 July 1983
pre-FM Double Vinyl LP Set (Side D is blank)
Much like several of the below listed King Biscuit shows, this recording claims to be from The Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (which occurred on 10 December 1982) and even includes Phil saying “Good evening, Philadelphia!” in the first segment. Phil further mentions this being the evening show from that venue, however, the audio from most of the actual songs is clearly from the Perkins Palace show.
We know that the Biscuit recorded both the early and late shows at the Tower Theatre on this tour as evidenced by their existence over at the Wolfgang’s Concert Vault website (just head there and search “Phil Collins” to hear those shows) however, this show is not from that venue. The song order on this one is bit jumbled, with I Missed Again being the first live track on Side A, and I Don’t Care Anymore starting off Side B. Contains original commercial blocks and intros by King Biscuit regular contributor Bill Minkin. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.
Complete track listing can be found here:
Live Cuts Show #17:
D.I.R. Broadcasting Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast – Week of 7 November 1983
pre-FM Single Vinyl LP
This is a single LP, one-off show under the Live Cuts banner, from the folks at D.I.R. (This series was also called Live Tracks and Live Trax at various times.) Each episode was individually numbered, and contained six individual, lock-banded live concert tracks from various artists, (three per side) along with commercial blocks and host intros. All live performances were culled from the King Biscuit Flower Hour’s massive archive in superb ‘pre-broadcast masters’ quality. This episode is Show #17.
This particular episode features live cuts from The Pretenders, Bachman Turner Overdrive, J. Geils Band, Heart, Focus and Phil. Each lock-banded track was meant to be played on a specific day during the broadcast window, in this case, the week of 7 November 1983. Each track is bookended with an introduction by Host Pete Larkin, and a commercial block. In fact, after each live track, Larkin can be heard saying some variation of: “Join me tomorrow for more Live Cuts!”
The lone Phil song, which comes at the end of Side B, I Don’t Care Anymore, was sourced from his show at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California during first solo tour. Tracks from Phil (and Genesis) appeared again in this series, as can be seen below. From my personal collection.
Complete track listing can be found here:
King Biscuit Flower Hour: The Best Of The Biscuit – Phil Collins / Chris de Burgh (Unknown Show Number):
ABC Rock Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982 and
The Montreal Forum, Montreal, Canada – Unknown Date
Original Broadcast – Week of 4 December 1983
pre-FM Double Vinyl LP Set (Side D is blank)
This recording also claims to be from The Tower Theatre, however, the audio from most of the actual songs during Phil’s set is from the Perkins Palace show. This is a trimmed down “best of” show, so not all songs are presented here. Chris de Burgh’s set was recorded at the Montreal Forum on an unknown/unlisted date. Phil’s portion of the show takes up Sides A & B, with de Burgh’s portion relegated (as it should be) to Side C. Side D is blank on this set. Contains original commercial blocks and intros by King Biscuit regular contributor Bill Minkin. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.

Live Cuts Show #24:
D.I.R. Broadcasting Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast – Week of 26 December 1983
pre-FM Single Vinyl LP
Another in the Live Cuts, Live Tracks and Live Trax series of shows. This episode features individual lock-banded concert tracks from Red Rider, The Romantics, Stray Cats, Golden Earing, Thomas Dolby and Phil. The lone Phil track, Like China, kicks off Side A, and is presumably culled from the Perkins Palace performance. I do not have this LP in my collection; information obtained from the Discogs listing.
Complete track listing can be found here:
Phil Collins – Live From Central Park: Hour No. 4
TBS Syndications Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast – Unknown Month/Day 1983
pre-FM Single Vinyl LP
This show was released to Telemedia-owned Canadian radio stations in 1983 for broadcast following Phil’s first solo tour. The records falsely claim to have been recorded in Central Park, New York, however, Phil did not play any concerts at this location during the tour in question. A quick listen reveals the show to have been recorded at Perkins Palace in Pasadena, California.
There are at least two versions of this show, Hour No. 4 and Hour No. 14. (See below for scans and links regarding Hour No. 14.) Contains DJ introductions by Pat St. John, but no commercial blocks. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.
Complete track listing can be found here:
Phil Collins – Live From Central Park: Hour No. 14
TBS Syndications Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast – Unknown Month/Day 1983
pre-FM Single Vinyl LP
The second such release, similar to the above listing. (Scroll up for scans and links regarding Hour No. 4.) Contains DJ introductions by Pat St. John, but no commercial blocks. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.

Live Cuts Show #29:
D.I.R. Broadcasting Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast – Week of 30 January 1984
pre-FM Single Vinyl LP
Another in the Live Cuts, Live Tracks and Live Trax series of shows. This episode features individual lock-banded concert tracks from Pat Benatar, The Pretenders, Squeeze, Duran Duran, Todd Rundgren and Phil. The lone Phil track, In The Air Tonight, is presumably culled from the Perkins Palace performance. I do not have this LP in my collection; information obtained from the Discogs listing.
Complete track listing can be found here:
Live Cuts Show #37:
D.I.R. Broadcasting Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast – Week of 27 March 1984
pre-FM Single Vinyl LP
Another in the Live Cuts, Live Tracks and Live Trax series of shows. This episode features individual lock-banded concert tracks from Judas Priest, Heart, Dire Straits, Tom Petty, REO Speedwagon and Phil. The lone Phil track, Thru These Walls, is again culled from the Perkins Palace performance. I do not have this LP in my collection; information obtained from an eBay listing and the Discogs listing.

The Sixth Annual North American Rock Radio Awards
D.I.R Broadcasting Networks Records
Recorded live at Elaine’s, New York, NY
Unknown Recording Date
Original Broadcast –
29 April 1984
pre-FM Triple Vinyl LP
D.I.R. Broadcasting presents a one-off live awards show featuring a mix of live and studio tracks from numerous bands and solo acts, all receiving awards for their contributions to North American FM radio for the year 1983.
Studio tracks are included from acts such as Quiet Riot, Yes, Led Zeppelin and The Police. Live tracks from Genesis, The Pretenders and Phil Collins are also included, but were not recorded at the venue on the night of the ceremony. Numerous presenters from the music industry are also on hand to announce the awards to the crowd. The awards ceremony was recorded in front of a live audience at the world famous Elaine’s bar and restaurant in New York City, and produced for later broadcast.
While the recording venues for the live tracks are not mentioned, careful inspection reveals that Phil’s tracks – which include Like China, You Can’t Hurry Love and It Don’t Matter To Me – were recorded at Perkins Palace. Phil receives the award for Favorite Male Vocalist 1983, and Genesis receive the award for Favorite In Concert Performer 1983. Phil provides a pre-recorded, phone-in acceptance speech, as do Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks for the Genesis segment. The live Genesis tracks featured are That’s All, Mama and Illegal Alien, although I am uncertain which concert these are culled from. From my personal collection.

Live Cuts Show #42:
D.I.R. Broadcasting Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast – Week of 30 April 1984
pre-FM Single Vinyl LP
Another in the Live Cuts, Live Tracks and Live Trax series of shows. This episode features individual lock-banded concert tracks from The Who, Men At Work, Joe Jackson, Utopia, Hall & Oates and Phil. The lone Phil track, Don’t Let Him Steal Your Heart Away, is again culled from the Perkins Palace performance. I do not have this LP in my collection; information obtained from an eBay listing.
This item is not currently listed on Discogs.
Captured Live! #CL-1684:
RKO Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at The Warner Theatre, Washington, D.C. – 20 February 1983
Original Broadcast –
Week of 14 May 1984
pre-FM Quadruple Vinyl LP Set
This set contains some of the same material as listed in the Captured Live! show above, reproduced and repackaged for airing in May of 1984. This show does not contain the following songs, which are featured in the other Captured Live! incarnation of this show, #CL 783: This Must Be Love, Thru These Walls, You Know What I Mean, The Roof Is Leaking and The West Side, consequently, the total running time on this version is 51:31, whereas the running time for CL 783 is 81:45. Therefore, this is a reduced performance from an already incomplete capture.
The interesting thing about this set is that it comes on four vinyl LPs. The first two LPs contain the show with host Jim Ladd, and the second set comes “un-hosted”, allowing local radio DJ’s to produce their own version of the show. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.

Live Trax Show #53:
D.I.R. Broadcasting Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast –
Week of 16 July 1984
pre-FM Single Vinyl LP
Another in the Live Cuts, Live Tracks and Live Trax series of shows. This episode features individual lock-banded concert tracks from Billy Squire, Bryan Adams, Robert Plant, Billy Idol, Quiet Riot and Phil. The lone Phil track, This Must Be Love, kicks off Side A, and is presumably culled from the Perkins Palace performance. I do not have this LP in my collection; information obtained from an eBay listing and the Discogs listing.

Westwood One Superstar Concert Series #SS84-15:
Westwood One Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at The Warner Theatre, Washington, D.C. – 20 February 1983
Original Broadcast –
Week of 28 July 1984
pre-FM Translucent Triple Vinyl LP Set
This show was completely unknown to me until it recently popped up on eBay. Prior to that, I was only aware of the three Warner Theatre captures which are listed below. This concert, again from the final night of Phil’s first solo tour, was recorded and produced on pre-FM vinyl LPs at least four times between 1984 and 1985 under the Superstars Concert Series banner, utilizing show numbers #SS84-15 (this show), #SS84-25, #SS85-10 and #SS85-26.
This set, like the following three, contains the same tracks as the aforementioned Captured Live! #CL-783 show, (with the exception of the Band Introductions, which appears on Captured Live! #CL-783 but not on this set) but in a slightly different running order. Also, not quite as rare as Captured Live! #CL-783, but still much harder to find than #SS85-26. (Again, until just recently, I had never seen this particular version of this show available anywhere, and therefore did not know of its existence.)
The performance is one of Phil’s best from this tour, and it definitely leaves the listener wanting more. In particular, the versions of Hand In Hand and And So To F… (which is misidentified as In Soto F on all four of the #SS Cue Sheets) are blazing hot. Both tracks highlight Phil’s thunderous drum skills along with Mo Foster’s thumping, popping, badass bass lines. This is the one show that makes me wish I had a time machine so that I could go back and see it for myself! (I’ve actually seen Mark Knopfler and his band twice at this same venue, and both times I imagined what it must have been like to be there for this show.)
The sound on all four of the Superstar Concert Series shows is much “brighter” than the Captured Live! #CL-783 version of this show, with the ambient audience noise much more present and loud. Contains original commercial blocks and DJ introductions by Phil Hendrie. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.

Live Tracks Show #8:
D.I.R. Broadcasting Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast – Week of 17 September 1984
pre-FM Single Vinyl LP
Another in the Live Cuts, Live Tracks and Live Trax series of shows. This episode features individual lock-banded concert tracks from David Bowie, The Doobie Brothers, Judas Priest, Scandal, The Kinks and Phil. The lone Phil track, I Don’t Care Anymore, finishes off Side A, and is presumably culled from the Perkins Palace performance. I do not have this LP in my collection; information obtained from the Discogs listing.

Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982

Another in the Live Cuts, Live Tracks and Live Trax series of shows. This episode features individual lock-banded concert tracks from Scandal, Joe Jackson, Rod Stewart, Robert Plant, Foreigner and Phil. The lone Phil track, I Cannot Believe It’s True, is presumably culled from the Perkins Palace performance. I do not have this LP in my collection; information obtained from the Discogs listing.

Westwood One Superstar Concert Series #SS84-25:
Westwood One Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at The Warner Theatre, Washington, D.C. – 20 February 1983
Original Broadcast – Week of 15 December 1984
pre-FM Triple Vinyl LP Set
The second of at least four versions of this show under the Superstars Concert Series banner, this is a repackaged version of #SS84-15, with the exact same musical content, set for airing in December of 1984 instead of July of that same year. Contains original commercial blocks and DJ introductions by Phil Hendrie. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.

pre-FM Double Reel-To-Reel Set
This is a very special version of this show, the contents of which are exactly the same as the vinyl LP version, however, this set was released on 7″ reel-to-reel tape. To date, this is the only Phil Collins show that I have found on reel-to-reel tape, though I am sure there must be more. Incomplete capture. I do not have this item in my personal collection and it is not listed on Discogs; info and images obtained from an eBay listing.
King Biscuit Flower Hour #KB-572 On Tour This Month:
ABC Rock Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast –
Week of 21 April 1985
pre-FM Double Vinyl LP Set (Side D is blank)
As you will see later in this list, shows from the King Biscuit Flower Hour that utilized Phil Collins solo material tended to be dedicated entirely to Phil for the duration of the show. However, from time to time, the folks at King Biscuit would put together a compilation show featuring several artists. This is one such show.
This compilation show contains music from Hall and Oates, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Graham Parker, Foreigner, U2 and Phil. The PC tracks are In The Air Tonight and I Don’t Care Anymore, and both tracks were culled from the aforementioned Perkins Palace show. Incomplete capture. I do not have this item in my personal collection; but you can view listing on Discogs below.

Westwood One Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at The Warner Theatre, Washington, D.C. – 20 February 1983

Week of 22 June 1985
pre-FM Translucent Triple Vinyl LP Set
Exact same show as #SS84-15, #SS84-25 and #SS85-26, but repackaged for airing in June of 1985. The third of at least four versions of this show under the Superstars Concert Series banner, this version is very hard to find, but contains the same tracks as listed above and below. Contains original commercial blocks and DJ introductions by Charlie Kendall. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.

The 1985 Isle Of Dreams Festival:
Westwood One Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast –
Weekend of 2-4
September 1985
pre-FM Eighteen
Vinyl LP Set
The 1985 Isle of Dreams Festival is a massive, eighteen LP, twelve hour long “fantasy concert” that was broadcast on U.S. radio stations nationally during Labor Day Weekend, 1985. The broadcast included pre-recorded live performances from twenty-four artists and bands, and was presented by the DJ’s as if they were covering a live music festival stereo simulcast. However, this show is a compilation of previously recorded material intended to be presented as the ultimate concert for 1985. All songs across the entire show are live recordings captured at various venues and timeframes from the included band’s history.
Some of the artists / bands included in this show are David Gilmour, .38 Special, The Rolling Stones, Bryan Adams, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, Foreigner, The Who, Loverboy, Eric Clapton, Huey Lewis & The News, Survivor, Billy Squire, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Pat Benatar, The Cars, Stevie Nicks, Sammy Hagar, Elton John and many more… including our beloved Phil.
Phil’s contribution to this huge undertaking was culled from the Perkins Palace show. The tracks included here are I Don’t Care Anymore, I Cannot Believe It’s True (which is incorrectly listed on the Cue Sheet as “Borrowed Time”), This Must Be Love and In The Air Tonight.
There were at least four Isle Of Dreams Festival shows produced by Westwood One, this show, along with the 1986, 1987 and 1988 shows. Songs by Phil were included in at least three of the four known shows, 1985, 1986 and 1987. The 1986 and 1987 shows are listed below. It is unclear at this time if any of Phil’s music appeared on the 1988 show, as I have only seen a partial (nine LP) version for sale on eBay, and that listing did not contain the complete concert. It stands to reason the there would have been some music by Phil used for the 1988 show, but as I do not have solid confirmation of this, I have chosen not to include that show here as yet.
I do not have this item in my personal collection; information obtained via Discogs.

King Biscuit Flower Hour Halloween Special (Unknown Show Number):
ABC Rock Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast –
27 October 1985
pre-FM Double Vinyl LP Set (Side D is blank)
Another compilation special from King Biscuit, this show features a single track from Phil along with tracks by Meat Loaf, Stray Cats, Santana, Warren Zevon, Edgar Winter and Billy Idol.
The PC track is In The Air Tonight, and once again, it is taken from the Perkins Palace show. Incomplete capture. I do not have this item in my personal collection; but you can view listing on Discogs below.
Westwood One Superstar Concert Series #SS85-26:
Westwood One Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at The Warner Theatre, Washington, D.C. – 20 February 1983
Original Broadcast- Week of 28 December 1985
pre-FM Translucent Triple Vinyl LP Set
Exact same show as #SS84-15, #SS84-25 and #SS85-10, but repackaged for airing in December of 1985. The fourth of at least four versions of this show under the Superstars Concert Series banner. For some reason, this seems to be the more popular (or at least more readily available) version of the show as it frequently pops up on eBay. That said, I prefer the earlier incarnation of Captured Live! #CL-783 and #SS84-15 for this date and venue as they are the more rare versions available. (For me, the “rareness” of the LPs makes them more appealing for some reason!) Contains original commercial blocks and DJ introductions by Charlie Kendall. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.

King Biscuit Flower Hour: Super Biscuit ’86 (Unknown Show Number):
ABC Rock Radio Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast –
Week of 23 May 1986
pre-FM Triple Vinyl LP Set (Side F is blank)
This is the first King Biscuit show (and only one that I know of) that claims to be from a venue in San Francisco, California rather than from the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, however, Phil did play the Berkeley Community Theatre in San Francisco on 16 December 1982, however, close examination of the tracks provided here proves that the audio of the actual songs is clearly from the Perkins Palace show. There is even the customary fade-in during And So To F…
Contains original commercial blocks and DJ introductions by King Biscuit regular contributor Bill Minkin. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.

Original Broadcast –
Weekend of 29 August –
1 September 1986
pre-FM Eighteen
Vinyl LP Set
Here is another entry in the Isle Of Dreams Festival series of shows, this time from 1986. As with the 1985 and 1987 versions of the weekend “ultimate concert”, this show is presented on eighteen LPs, is twelve hours long, and included pre-recorded live performances from twenty-four artists and bands. The show was broadcast on U.S. radio stations nationally during Labor Day Weekend, 1986. Hosted by Ray White, Katie Kiley and David Perry, the broadcast included pre-recorded live performances from twenty-four artists and bands, and was presented by the DJ’s as if they were covering a live music festival stereo simulcast. However, this show is a compilation of previously recorded material intended to be presented as the ultimate concert for 1986. All songs across the entire show are live recordings captured at various venues and timeframes from the included band’s history.
Some of the artists / bands included in this show are The Rolling Stones, INXS, Tears For Fears, Bryan Adams, Foreigner, The Who, Journey, Don Henley, Eric Clapton, Huey Lewis & The News, Supertramp, David Bowie, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin, U2, Rod Stewart, Dire Straits, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band and many more… including our beloved Phil.
Phil’s contribution is an almost exact repeat of his contributions to the ’85 and ’87 Festival, with one additional song. The tracks, which were all culled from the Perkins Palace show, are are I Don’t Care Anymore, I Cannot Believe It’s True (which is again incorrectly listed on the Cue Sheet as “Borrowed Time”), This Must Be Love, You Know What I Mean (which was not present on the 1985 version of this show, and as such, is the one additional song mentioned above) and In The Air Tonight.
Again, as stated above, there were at least four Isle Of Dreams Festival shows produced by Westwood One, this show, along with the 1985, 1987 and 1988 shows. Songs by Phil were included in at least three of the four known shows, 1985, 1986 and 1987. The 1985 show is listed above and the 1987 show is listed below.

Here is another entry in the Isle Of Dreams Festival series of shows, this time from 1987. As with the 1985 and 1986 versions of the weekend “ultimate concert”, this show is presented on eighteen LPs, is twelve hours long, and included pre-recorded live performances from twenty-four artists and bands. The show was broadcast on U.S. radio stations nationally during Labor Day Weekend, 1987, and was hosted by Katie Kiley and Steve Downes.
Some of the artists / bands included in this show are The Rolling Stones, Bryan Adams, U2, Steve Winwood, Van Halen, Don Henley, Jackson Browne, Eddie Money, The Pretenders, Bon Jovi, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Pete Townshend, The Moody Blues, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, Eric Clapton, Huey Lewis & The News, Led Zeppelin and many more… including our beloved Phil.
Phil’s contribution is an exact repeat of his contributions to the ’86 Festival. The tracks, which were all culled from the Perkins Palace show, are I Don’t Care Anymore, I Cannot Believe It’s True (which is again incorrectly listed on the Cue Sheet as “Borrowed Time”), This Must Be Love, You Know What I Mean and In The Air Tonight.
Again, as stated above, there were at least four Isle Of Dreams Festival shows produced by Westwood One, this show, along with the 1985, 1986 and 1988 shows. Songs by Phil were included in at least three of the four known shows, 1985, 1986 and 1987. The 1985 and 1986 shows are listed above.

Live Cuts 1990 / 91:
D.I.R. Broadcasting Networks Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast – Week of 31 December 1990 –
4 January 1991
pre-FM Single Compact Disc
The final three transcription discs of the Live Cuts series each featured twelve songs covering two broadcast weeks with six songs per show. This is the second of the three shows which contained two broadcast weeks on the same compact disc.
Artists featured on this disc include Robert Plant, David Bowie, Dire Straits, Manfred Mann, Paul Carrack, Elon John, Focus, Tom Petty, Todd Rundgren, Loggins & Messina, U2 and, of course, Phil. The lone track, presumably recorded at Perkins palace, is I Cannot Believe It’s True.

King Biscuit Flower Hour: Phil Collins with Tom Cochrane (Unknown Show Number):
King Biscuit Radio Corporation Records
Recorded live at The Warner Theatre, Washington, D.C. – 20 February 1983
and
Unknown Venue, Red Deer, Alberta, Canada – Unknown Date
Original Broadcast – Week of 26 October 1992
pre-FM Single Compact Disc
Like several of the above King Biscuit shows, this recording again claims to be from The Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (which occurred on 10 December 1982) and even includes Phil saying “Good evening, Philadelphia!” after I Don’t Care Anymore, however, the audio of the actual songs is clearly from the Perkins Palace show. There are currently at least five different King Biscuit Flower Hour pre-FM CDs available with varying track lists, featuring most of the show between them.
Two songs by Tom Cochrane (former lead singer of the band Red Rider) are included at the end of the show under the “Future Classic Artist” moniker, however, the venue is not mentioned, only that it was recorded in Red Deer. Contains original commercial blocks and DJ introductions by King Biscuit regular contributor Bill Minkin. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.
*Note: My copy did not come with the Cue Sheet, so the provided scan is taken from an eBay listing.

Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast – Week of 6-12 December 1999
pre-FM Single Compact Disc
Yet another King Biscuit Perkins Palace show with host Ed Sciaky. Sciaky claims at the top of the show that this concert is from 1986, however, Phil did not do a solo tour at any point in 1986 as he was touring with Genesis at that time. As previously noted, there are currently at least five different KBFH pre-FM CDs available with varying track lists, featuring most of the Perkins Palace show between them. Contains original commercial blocks and DJ introductions by Sciaky. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.

This is a nearly identical set list as the above listed King Biscuit show featuring tracks from Tom Cochrane, except this recording does not contains the final song This Must Be Love, nor does it include any tracks from Cochrane.
Note that the Cue Sheet indicates that the show aired in May of 2002 while the actual discs states April of that year. Contains original commercial blocks and DJ introductions by Marc Coppolla. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.

In addition, this information was obtained from an eBay listing in which the Seller did not provide pics of the disc or Cue Sheet(s).
Classic Concert of Rock Show #10-46:
Unknown Canadian Broadcasting Company
Recorded live at
Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast – November 2010
pre-FM Double Compact Disc
This is a strange listing on eBay claiming to be sourced from a Canadian radio program series called Classic Concert of Rock. The listing states that this is a two hour / two CD show featuring an archive performance from Phil recorded at Perkins Palace. The eBay listing from which this entry is sourced did list commercials which are included, but the whole listing smacks of being a fake item, especially as no images were provided. My guess is this is some sort of bootleg copy on CD-R, but without having this item in my collection (and I didn’t want to buy it because it was listed for over $45) I can’t be sure of its authenticity. Incomplete capture.
Classic Concert of Rock:
Unknown Canadian Broadcasting Company
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Original Broadcast – February 2011
pre-FM Double Compact Disc
Another one just like the above listing. Now that there are at least two of these shows available, does that make them legit? I won’t know without purchasing one, but I just don’t want to take that leap. So I’ll just document them here. Incomplete capture.
And finally, there are also two unofficial audience bootleg recordings which captured shows from Phil’s first solo tour. While these are not pre-FM radio shows, I am including them here because they are the only known PC boots on vinyl.
I Don’t Care Anymore:
Jourdisc Europe
Recorded live at Congresgebouw, The Hague, Holland – 11 November 1982
Double Vinyl LP Set
Phil started his first solo tour with two performances (an early show and a late show) on 11 November 1982 at the Congresgebouw in Holland. The second show from that day was captured and released as this double vinyl LP set. The sound is very muffled, the speed is slightly sped up and the packaging is… shall we say… unique. That said, this is only one of two known PC bootlegs on vinyl, so it deserves a place on this list. It also does appear that this is a complete capture of the entire performance from that night. From my personal collection.

File Under… Phile Collins First Live Serving:
King Toot Records
Recorded live at Perkins Palace, Pasadena, California – 19 December 1982
Double Vinyl LP Set
This set is the second PC bootleg to surface, and it’s an odd one. It’s also not at all a radio program but actually another bootleg of the Perkins Palace show on vinyl. The quality is such that the tracks leave a lot to be desired as it sounds more like a recording of a poorly sourced FM broadcast transferred to vinyl. Either way, it’s an extremely rare set and hard to find, thus I felt it deserved inclusion here.
The company that produced this bootleg copy intentionally misspelled Phil’s first name as Phile, and further printed labels on the LPs suggesting Big Band music as a means to avoid detection of their bootleg activities.
The back of the album sleeve states: Calif. March, 1984. I actually believe that this date is meant to suggest the recording date, however, we know that Phil’s first solo tour was over by February of 1983. In fact, by March of 1984, Genesis had already completed a huge world tour in support of their 1983 self-titled album (aka MAMA); a tour which began in November of 1983 and finished up on 29 February 1984. Therefore, this date cannot be the actual recording date. Of course, this could also just be the release date of the LP set itself. Regardless of this, investigation into the actual tracks reveals them to have been recorded at Perkins Palace in December 1982. Incomplete capture. From my personal collection.
