While the previous pages on this site detailed the complete Phil Collins Transcription Radio Shows, along with the PC and Genesis Radio Interview Shows, I do have many other similar shows from a number of other bands and artists in my collection. This page will detail all of the remaining shows that I have in my personal collection, both interview specials and concert broadcasts. This is not meant to be a definitive listing of all of the known shows from each band or artists, as was the case with the PC and Genesis shows, this is simply a place to find details of other shows that I have purchased. Perhaps you will find some information herein that will be helpful. I truly hope so.
And as an aside, you may have noticed on the previous pages (and on this page as well) that I sometimes use the narrative descriptions from Discogs in my descriptions here. That is because in almost every case, I was the original submitter of the items on Discogs. Especially the Genesis and Phil Collins material. When I joined Discogs, most of these radio transcription shows did not exist on the site.  Thus, it fell to me to add them. So I am not plagiarizing when I utilize those notes, I am simply copying what I originally provided to that site. If you have any questions about the shows listed here, please reach out to me via the Contact Me page.
*One Note: On this page you will find every Genesis radio transcription concert show that I own. Unlike the Phil Collins concerts, these shows are not listed elsewhere on this site because, as mentioned in the Complete Phil Collins Radio Guide, Dave Dunnington has done a fantastic job of cataloging all of the Genesis shows on his site. You can see that list HERE. I am not intending to be redundant by listing some of those same shows here. Again, I am simply cataloging the shows that I have in my collection. So let’s get started…

The Eagles

King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents A Conversation With The Eagles #C-307:

D.I.R. Broadcasting Records

Unknown recording date

Original Broadcast
Week of 23 March 1980

pre-FM Triple Vinyl LP

The folks at King Biscuit and nationally syndicated DJ Dave Herman present an interview with The Eagles regarding their career and their latest release (at that time) EAGLES LIVE. Unlike most Biscuit shows, this is not a live concert recording, rather, it’s an “intimate” discussion featuring Don Felder, Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit. All five members of the band are interviewed by Herman. Contains original commercial blocks and DJ introductions by Herman.

Another Biscuit “conversation” release with Host Dave Herman. Here, Herman presents an interview with Bob Seger regarding his career and his latest release (at that time) AGAINST THE WIND. Unlike most Biscuit shows, this is not a live concert recording. As noted during the broadcast, the interview segments were originally recorded in July of 1979. Contains original commercial blocks and DJ introductions by Herman. Side D is blank.

The Rolling Stones

King Biscuit Flower Hour #KB 312 (Elvis Costello Label Misprint):

D.I.R. Broadcasting Records

Unknown recording date

Original Broadcast
Week of 27 April 1980

pre-FM Double Vinyl LP

King Biscuit captured The Stones on two of their North American tours for this double vinyl release. As will most Biscuit shows, Side D is blank. The labels for this set were misprinted, identifying the artist as Elvis Costello & The Attractions. D.I.R. Broadcasting had to therefore apologize that the label was printed in error and that the label should read ‘The Rolling Stones.’ Because of this misprint, this set is extremely valuable and hard to find. My copy did not come with any of the original paperwork, which can be seen in the Discogs listing.

New York radio disc jockey Scott Muni leads a “round table” discussion with several well known disc jockeys from across the United States and the members of The Rolling Stones for a King Biscuit Flower Hour 90 minute radio special. As with the above listed A CONVERSATION WITH BOB SEGER show, this is also not a live concert recording. The disc jockeys present are Mark Parenteau from WBCN in Boston, (who was later sentenced to three years in federal prison for sexual child abuse, and who passed away in 2016), Norm Winer from WXRT in Chicago (who quit being a DJ in 2016 after 37 years at WXRT), Tempi Lindsey from KTXQ in Dallas, Jack Snyder from KMET in Los Angeles and Charlie Kendall from WMMR in Philadelphia (who later appeared as a regular host of Westwood One’s Superstar Concert Series). The entire group met at the WNEW studios in New York, where they all sat around a table drinking, smoking, telling stories and asking / answering questions from the various DJs. Some questions from “fans” are also presented, but no call-in audience members are present. One can actually hear cigarette lighters clicking, beer cans popping open and being poured, and glasses clinking throughout the show. Tracks from the most recent Stones album at the time, EMOTIONAL RESCUE, were also featured during the show. Original commercial blocks are also included.

Includes interviews with Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Don Felder, Joe Walsh, Jackson Browne, Bob Seger and Elektra / Asylum Records Chairman of the Board Joe Smith. No commercials are included on this set, and unlike most radio shows on vinyl, this set has Sides A and B on one LP, along with Sides C and D on the second LP. (Usually double LP radio shows were set up as Sides A and C on one LP, and Sides B and D on the second LP to allow DJs to play the sides continuously.) Note that Side B does not contain the 700 Hz Tone Locked Groove used for balancing the audio levels prior to broadcast, but Sides A, C and D do. D.I.R., who produced the show in association with ABC Radio Networks, are the people behind King Biscuit. Most of the live tracks on this set were not recorded during the 1981 tour, however, these tracks were culled from previous shows recorded by D.I.R. Yellow Mello Yello Label Version

This radio show is the first of many versions of the set from the Nassau Coliseum in 1981 that I own. It is also the most complete set from the Nassau Coliseum concert, with the only significant omission being Turn It On Again, found on other Westwood One radio shows and the THREE SIDES LIVE album and video.

Dodo / Lurker, Abacab, Misunderstanding, Turn It On Again, Follow You, Follow Me, the In The Cage Medley and Behind The Lines can all be found on the THREE SIDES LIVE official live album ad video release. Partially recorded at The Nassau Coliseum in New York on 29 November 1981, (with the exception of Man On The Corner, No Reply At All and probably Misunderstanding which were most likely captured at The Savoy Club in New York City on 28 November 1981). Behind The Lines usually segued directly into Duchess when performed live, (and indeed it does so on THREE SIDES LIVE) however, this recording utilizes a quick fade out as Duchess begins and the song slips directly into No Reply At All. Lastly, Follow You, Follow Me was recorded at the Lyceum Ballroom in London on 7 May 1980.

Another version of this same set was pressed with green labels and sponsored by Sprite soda instead of Mello Yello. That show is listed directly below.

The third night was recorded by King Biscuit, with 110 minutes of this concert having been broadcast by King Biscuit over two consecutive Flower Hour shows on consecutive weekends in May of 1984 The material is certainly different from the CAPTURED LIVE! recording sourced from the previous night, 26 November. (That show is listed below.) The mix on this show is a little heavier on bass and audience noise, making for a fuller experience. A shortened version of this show was also broadcast by King Biscuit in September of 1984 as a Best Of show, listed below.

Recorded Live at The Spectrum, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:
26 November 1983

Original Broadcast
Part I: 23 July 1984
Part II: 30 July 1984

pre-FM Quadruple Vinyl LP

Radio show producers RKO recorded 100 minutes from the second of the three 1983 dates at this venue for broadcast as part of their CAPTURED LIVE! series. This show aired over two consecutive weekends on U.S. radio stations, with DJ Jim Ladd hosting and no commercial blocks presented on the vinyl itself.

The running order of the songs gets jumbled at the end, with RKO choosing to place Misunderstanding and Illegal Alien after the show’s actual closer, Turn It On Again, thus creating a false encore. Presented on translucent vinyl. These transcription LPs are very hard to find.

One of the most bootlegged radio broadcasts in Genesis’ history was recorded at the Empire Pool, Wembley. Genesis played two nights at Wembley in April of 1975, and the BBC were contracted to record both nights. Some sources quote the recording date as 14th, but comparison with an audience tape from 15th shows the recording is from the second night. This is Westwood One’s initial version of this concert, the first of many, and the first of three such copies that I own. All three versions are identical, with the exception of the commercials.

Sent out on a two LP set, the first part is forty-five minutes of Wembley 1975, the second part contains tracks from The Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York from 29 November 1981, except No Reply At All and maybe Misunderstanding which were most likely recorded the previous night at The Savoy Theatre on 28 November 1981.

The Genesis Event was a massive, marathon four-part show broadcast over four consecutive weeks compiled by King Biscuit to showcase their new recording of the band on the Invisible Touch Tour. As with all King Biscuit LP sets, each of the four shows was distributed on two LPs one of which is one-sided, making 8 LPs (12 sides) in total.

Part I contains various live Genesis songs which over the years have accumulated in the King Biscuit archives, recorded at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, Wembley Arena, The Rainbow Theatre and The Nassau Coliseum, along with interview clips from the band members. There are also a few of the new 1986 songs from the L.A. Forum. Part II concentrates on the various Genesis solo projects but with a couple more tracks from L.A. Forum 1986 show. Parts III and IV are dedicated entirely to the L.A. Forum 1986 recording, and were reproduced in June of 1987 as a two-part Best Of The Biscuit (listed below).

Features original commercial blocks and DJ introductions by King Biscuit regular contributor Bill Minkin. Details about the tracks and recording venues can be found on the Discogs entries; links below. This is a fantastic set to own, one that is very hard to find, and took me years to complete.

I’ve also included several scans from the  INVISIBLE TOUCH era, some related to The Event, others not so much. But I’ve added them because all of them are pretty cool and they’re all in my personal collection.

Westwood One Radio Networks Records

Unknown recording date

Original Broadcast
Unknown Month / Day 1986

pre-FM Double Vinyl LP

Host Mary Turner interviews Peter Gabriel in the studio. The discussion centers on his history with and success of the band Genesis, his solo career, and his latest release (at that time) SO. Commercial blocks and studio tracks are mixed with conversations between Gabriel and Turner, who all appear in the studio together. Released on translucent vinyl.

Note: This exact same show, albeit with different commercial blocks, was originally released in August of 1986 under show # 86-32, and then was repackaged for airplay at least one other time in August of 1988. Neither of those versions are currently listed on Discogs. Given that this show is numbered 86-43, it was definitely released after August of that year.

Steve Winwood

Superstar Concert Series #87-01:

Westwood One Radio Networks Records

Recorded Live at The Blossom Music Center, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio:
17 September 1986

Original Broadcast
Weekend of 17 January 1987

pre-FM Triple Vinyl LP

This is another in the Superstar Concert Series of shows which called into question the actual recording date of the concert, this time featuring Steve Winwood. Winwood and his band appeared at The Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls (just outside Cleveland) for a show who’s actual recording date has been incorrectly identified as 18 January 1987. That is most likely due to the fact that this show, which was the original broadcast version of the concert by Westwood One, aired on that exact weekend of 17 January 1987.  There was a later, identical broadcast in November of 1987, under show #87-E, which was (for a time) considered to be the original broadcast version. I previously owned a copy of that version (which you can see listed on Discogs  HERE and which includes the incorrect recording date). The actual recording date of the concert was 17 September 1986.

This show, like show #87-E, features host Steve Downes, along with original commercial blocks, and was released on translucent vinyl. For clarification, I have included scans of both show #87-01 and #87-E on this site, however, I no longer own a copy of show #87-E.

This item is not currently listed on Discogs, however, show #87-E is listed there, and the link is featured above.

This is the second version of this exact show that I own. Identical to #IC 86-26 (listed above) and #IC 88-25 (listed below). This is also the only version on vinyl which is not listed on Dave Dunnington’s website.

One unique note about this set: The Cue Sheet indicates that the show number is 87-09, referring to the fact that this would be Westwood One’s ninth show of 1987, however, the original airdate (as indicated by the Cue Sheet as well) states 11 May 1986. I have never seen a Westwood One Cue Sheet (or any pre-FM radio show Cue Sheet) which had a show number that did not correspond with the year of airing. This means that either the show number is incorrect and should have read 86-09, or the airdate is incorrect and should have read 11 May 1987. There is no definitive way to know for sure, but my guess is that the show number on the Cue Sheet is the one that is misprinted, especially given that the Matrix / Runouts indicate that the show number is 87-09.

Also, there are several songs on the Cue Sheet which are misidentified. For starters (and these two are small ones) Back In New York City is misidentified as “Back In New York” and The Carpet Crawlers is misidentified as “Carpet Crawl” on the Cue Sheet. The other song errors are more severe. Hairless Heart is misidentified as “The Chamber Of 32 Doors”, The Waiting Room is misidentified as “Evil Jam”, and the last song from the Wembley show, misidentified as “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway” is actually a medley featuring Silent Sorrow In Empty Boats / The Colony Of Slippermen (Arrival) / Ravine / The Light Dies Down On Broadway / Riding The Scree.

King Biscuit Flower Hour Best Of The Biscuit -Genesis Two Part Special #BOB 683 / 684:

Recorded Live at The Forum, Los Angeles, California:
14 – 15 October 1986

Original Broadcast
Part I: 7 June 1987
Part II: 14 June 1987

pre-FM Quadruple Vinyl LP

So here it is… one of the best Genesis radio programs ever broadcast! Back in June of 1987, the King Biscuit Flower Hour ran a two part “Best Of” special over the course of two consecutive Sunday evenings containing portions of the now infamous L.A. Forum show from October 1986. I captured those shows onto cassette tapes, but I lost them some years later during a move. I cannot begin to describe the excitement I felt at the time, having never seen Genesis live in concert, when Bill Minkin announced that we would go right to the stage in the Forum in Los Angeles for Genesis! I had no idea the show was coming on, and when it started, I barely had time to grab a cassette tape and throw it into my stereo. And my excitement only grew when, years later, I finally obtained these vinyl discs for my private collection.

This performance comes from the sold out Invisible Touch tour. Genesis played five nights from 13 October to 17 October 1986 at The Los Angeles Forum and from comparison with audience tapes we know that Phil’s dialog is all from the shows recorded on the 14th and 15th. Presumably the songs are also from these two dates. The set features the smoldering closing sections of Supper’s Ready at the end of the In The Cage Medley, with Phil’s voice in screaming top form. This section was subsequently dropped when Genesis reverted to their standard ending of Afterglow. In Too Deep and Follow You Follow Me, also dropped early in the tour, are present. But it is, and always will be, the version of Mama that steals the show for me. This is, hands down, my most prized possession in my entire vinyl collection. (I actually have two copies of this show on vinyl, because there was a deep skip during That’s All on my original copy.)

This show was originally broadcast in December of 1986 by King Biscuit as part of a huge, four weekend special entitled The Genesis Event, which is listed above. The tracks on this two-part set were originally broadcast on Parts III and IV of that show.

Recorded Live in Orlando, Florida (Possibly at The Bob Carr Performing Arts Center: 14 July 1988)

Original Broadcast
Week of 27 August 1988

pre-FM Triple Vinyl LP

This is the very first Westwood One Superstar Concert Series broadcast of this show, and at least one more would follow. Recorded during the band’s Scenes From The Southside ’88-’89 Tour. Includes original commercial blocks and radio intros by Superstar Concert Series regular Steve Downes. Released on translucent vinyl.

Recording Location / Date Note: During the start of Mandolin Rain, Hornsby can be heard discussing the fact that the show is being recorded for Westwood One. A fan can be heard shouting: “Welcome to Orlando!” Hornsby then states: “We picked Orlando because we liked it.” The exact recording date for this concert is not known, however, the false recording date of 27 August 1988 has been linked to this show for many years. In point of fact, I am most likely the source for this incorrect date. That is because I recorded the show off FM radio on 27 August 1988, and at the time, was unaware that these shows had been pre-recorded for broadcast. (I was under the false impression that the show was a live simulcast.)  I therefore dated the cassette tape with the recording date. Years later, I uploaded a torrent of this exact recording to the ZOMB torrent site, and attributed the recording date as the performance date. Apparently, it stuck. Oops… my bad!  Needless to say, I was very excited to finally discover the original vinyls for this show, even though I still have the original cassette tapes of the FM broadcast.

It is known that The Range played a concert at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center in Orlando on 14 July 1988, and it seems likely that this is the original source of this recording.

The second such show recorded at the  Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium. This version of the show features Simple Minds, Peter Gabriel, Dire Straits and Eric Clapton. (Gabriel only performs one song, Biko, at the end of the Simple Minds set.) Clapton performed alongside his friend Mark Knopfler during the Dire Straits set, because the regular guitar player (Jack Sonni at that time) was at home with his wife and newborn girls. Knopfler mentions this during the middle section of Walk Of Life about the 3:35 mark. In addition, Clapton performed one of his solo classics as well in Wonderful Tonight. Brothers In Arms was performed that day, but is not included on this LP set for reasons unknown. Lastly, there is another version of this concert featuring some of the Simple Minds set, along with tracks by Sting and the Eurythmics, which was broadcast in August of 1988, and is listed above. Regarding the suspected broadcast date, broadcast date: There were no Cue Sheets with this set when I purchased it, therefore I cannot say for certain when this show originally aired.  This is not a stereo simulcast from that day, but rather a repackaged, trimmed down version aired at a later date. Research has revealed that this particular show was broadcast sometime in June of 1989, one year after the original concert.  If I had to guess, I’d say it probably aired around the anniversary date of 11 June, but I cannot be sure.

Westwood One Radio Networks Records

Recorded Live at The Royal Albert Hall, London, UK:
24 January 1990

Original Broadcast
Week of 14 May 1990

pre-FM Quadruple Vinyl LP

Eric Clapton performed an eighteen night run at The Royal Albert Hall starting in January 1990, the longest running residency at the famed Hall up to that point. These concerts were performed with four different instrumental formations, a Four Piece Quartet, a Blues Band featuring Buddy Guy and Robert Cray, a nine piece band and an orchestra, the last featuring the National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Michael Kamen. He recorded every night with the intention of producing a live album. However, Clapton reportedly was not satisfied with the 1990 concert recordings and therefore delayed the release of the album. Clapton then set a new record by playing a run of twenty-four nights at the Albert Hall between 5 February and 9 March 1991. But it was during that first eighteen night residency in 1990 that this show was recorded and eventually broadcast.

Running On Faith, White Room and Sunshine Of Your Love from this concert were ultimately chosen to be used for the original commercial release of Eric’s live album 24 NIGHTS. Those three songs, along with the remainder of this show, were recorded on 24 January 1990. This concert focuses on the Four Piece Quartet band line-up, featuring Steve Ferrone, Nathan East, Greg Phillinganes and Slowhand himself. This is a killer set to have, which aired well before the 24 NIGHTS album and video were released.

Westwood One Radio Networks Records

Unknown recording date

Original Broadcast –

Week of 27 May 1995

pre-FM Sextuple Compact Disc

Here is another six-disc, six-hour Eric Clapton retrospective radio special. This time, Westwood One Host Richard Skinner details Clapton’s entire musical career through dozens of interviews, studio tracks and live cuts. Interview segments from Clapton, John Mayall, Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend, George Harrison, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Ronnie Lane, Glyn Johns, Tom Dowd, Phil Collins, Tina Turner, and Elton John are all featured. Contains original commercial blocks and segment intros by Skinner. The title is derived from Skinner’s introduction on each disc, although only The Eric Clapton Story appears on the discs themselves. Each disc came housed in a separate, identical paper sleeve.

King Biscuit Flower Hour L.A. Forum Two Part Special #KB 96-07 / 08:

King Biscuit Flower Hour Radio Records

Recorded Live at The Forum, Los Angeles, California:
14 – 15 October 1986

Original Broadcast
Part I: 12 – 18 February 1996
Part II: 19 – 25 February 1996

pre-FM Double Compact Disc

Exact same L.A. Forum show as the show on compact discs from June 1992 and February 1995, but repackaged onto compact disc for airplay in February of 1996. Unlike the February ’95 version, this show does not contain any tracks from Rusted Root, nor does Bill Minkin make an appearance. Contains original commercial blocks and DJ intros by Up Close host Dan Neer.

Sometime after May 1995 and before February 1996, Neer took over hosting duties from King Biscuit regular contributor Bill Minkin. I don’t have an exact date that this change occurred, but evidence is shown in the above KBFH show featuring Paul Simon and Bonnie Raitt. Minkin hosted that show, and it aired in mid-May of ’95. This show aired in mid-February of ’96, and featured Neer as the host.

There is at least one other known two-disc version of this show, released on compact disc in 1998, but I do not have a copy in my collection. (I previously  had a copy of Disc II, but sold it as I have never found a copy of Disc I.) From my personal collection.

This is another official promotional disc, this time produced by Warner Brothers Records. Mark discusses his very first solo effort,  GOLDEN HEART. There are no commercial blocks on this disc. Interestingly, this disc was produced without a front cover; the jewel case only containing the disc and a back cover. (If a front cover, exists, I have never seen it accompanying this item.)

Another Westwood One Radio Networks Off The Record show featuring U2. This one is different from most in that the host is not Mary Turner. The host for this one only identifies herself as “Tawn.” For this outing, she plays interview clips from Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton, along with studio and live tracks. The boys discuss a bit of their history, playing live, and their latest release (at that time) POP.

Although this is a two-disc show, it was not designed to be aired on consecutive nights or weekends. This show was broadcast in one 90 minute window in August 1999. Featuring performances from 1981 and 1984, all tracks presented are previously available on other Westwood One shows listed above. Host J.J. Jackson handles the segments breaks, with original commercial blocks included. This exact show was repackaged for broadcast in August 2000 under show #00-35, but I’ve only ever been able to find Part I for sale online.

“Uncle” Joe Benson chronicles the life and music of Mark Knopfler, including contributions to his historic band Dire Straits, and he actually interviews Knopfler in the studio for this one hour radio special. (And given that the two appear together, Knopfler took over the Segment Intro duties on this show.) Some of the interview bits (specifically the ones where Knopfler discusses Dire Straits music) were recycled later and also appeared on a 2008 Off The Record radio special, listed below. The show contains commercials and studio tracks from several of the band’s albums, plus Knopfler’s solo tunes. Released to coincide with Knopfler’s latest (at that time) solo album SHANGRI-LA.

Tracks 1 – 4 are the actual radio show, Tracks 5 – 7 are promo spots, Tracks 8 – 17 are commercial spots, while Tracks 18 – 29 are the actual interview segments separated into individual tracks.
